Restoring a Better Quality of Life
Through Independence
Improved balance, muscle strength and motor skills are among the benefits reported by MorseLife Parkinson’s Therapy program participants. Gaining just a little more control over simple self-care tasks can do wonders to improve the comfort, confidence and quality of life for those suffering with Parkinson’s Disease.
Even with medication prescribed to mitigate their condition, Parkinson’s patients often experience muscle tremors, stiffness and slowness throughout their bodies, which ultimately can affect muscles used for speaking and swallowing, alter speech and facial expressions, and create communication problems.
As many as 90 percent of people with Parkinson’s Disease may be at a high risk of losing their ability to speak. Worse, complications from difficulty with swallowing account for 70 percent of the mortality rate among Parkinson’s patients.
Now, MorseLife is setting a new standard for Parkinson’s Disease therapy in Palm Beach County with the innovative Lee Silverman Voice Treatment.

About the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment ™
The effective and evidence-based Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) therapy program is now also available on an outpatient basis through Parkinson’s Therapy at MorseLife.
LSVT used worldwide, the pioneering, holistic program includes highly individualized Parkinson’s treatment plans using certified therapy techniques to promote improved movement by addressing diminished speech, cognitive decline and other challenges associated with Parkinson’s and neurological disorders.
LSVT therapy involves retraining the brain to adapt to the challenges of Parkinson’s using the “LSVT BIG” series of exercises that lead to functional improvements in everyday movement. For speech issues, exercises are delivered through the “LSVT LOUD” program.
During LSVT BIG therapy, patients learn to exaggerate their movement patterns, which ultimately leads to establishing a pattern of smoother, larger and safer movements overall. Through LSVT LOUD speech training, they relearn to adjust their voice levels according to the parameters of different settings, a skill that is often difficult for those suffering with Parkinson’s. The outcome of both programs is greater patient comfort, increased confidence and a better quality of life.
In addition to patient treatment, MorseLife offers the unique opportunity for their families and caregivers to find the support and education they need through group meetings and counseling sessions.
